History
Government post graduate college is among the oldest institute of the country it was established in 1942 as a high secondary school it was a granted the states of college after the creation of Pakistan.
In 1963 it was granted the states of post graduate college and the subject of English Urdu and economics were introduce at master level as there was no University in the area.
Being a premier in Quetta initially named as government post graduate science college kota in 1973 except FSC and b.sc all other department was shifted to the present government postgraduate college sariya broad Quetta thurs the college were renamed as government post graduate science college kota in 2019 with the introduction of BS program in the province
Library
College has 12 equipped laboratories of chemistry physics botany zoology geography geology and computer science subject regular experiments are conduct for the students in this laboratories on the first floor of the new academic block there are four laboratories for FSC and PS botany and zoology additionally there are 6 laboratories for physics chemistry (one each for BS and physics students).

The college have two large and specific auditorium spacious auditoriums the old one was built in 1981 with the capacity of 600 seats while the new one was built in 26 with the capacity of 400 seats

In 2000 department of computer science for established to the student learn and keep a breast of the latest development made in computer science and information technology a digital library is the most valuable component of this departments.

A well furnished , enlightened well talented three story vs block has concerned in 2018 for PS program there are 24 class room in this block you fill the need of BS program offices for BS coordinator controller assistant and staff room has been establish in the block 22 department all function in the college accommated more than 6 700 students for academic year 2022 202

A well equipped attendance cell has been established to maintain the attendance record of students teacher get attendance in the class and submit to the attendantself on daily basis the cell then a issue monthly attendance percentage of the student and display on the notice board for information of student and their parents at least 75% attendance of class by the student is to be ensured defaulting students are expelled from the college on return reques
